Nubra Valley

Nubra Valley lies in the union territory of Ladakh and is a subdivision and a tehsil. The Tibetan name Ldumra for Nubra means “the valley of flowers”. While travelling to Nubra Valley you can also visit Diskit Monastery as it is the largest and lovely Buddhist Monastery complex. The early morning visit here leaves the tourist with a pleasing experience of equanimity.

Also, a visit to Turtuk village around Nubra Valley is one place not to be missed as it’s a part of Balti Muslim where the people speak in Balti language. How to reach Nubra Valley?

By Air: Nubra valley is a tourist Place of Leh and Ladakh. The nearest airport to reach Nubra Valley is Leh Airport as it is well connected by major cities of India.

By Train: There are no railway connections built yet to reach entire Leh & Ladakh. The railway tracks end In Kashmir and its take around two days to reach Leh as its one of the toughest region surrounded with the country boarders to China and Pakistan also located at the highest altitude.

By Road: To visit Nubra Valley road is the only mode of travel from Leh. It takes around 5-6 hours to reach there via Khardung la Pass which is considered to be the world’s highest motorable road at the altitude of 17,582 ft.

Best time to visit Nubra Valley

Nubra Valley is a best visited from End of April till Mid October. In Mid-June to September this region is expected to be closed any time as it experiences a road blockage due to rainfall. During winter the entire Leh Ladakh is closed for travelling due heavy layer of snow making it best time for the trekkers and mountaineers.
