Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga National Park is lying peacefully in the heart of Assam, It covers 42,996 hectares being the last unmodified natural area in the northeast, India. This city is also famous for its rhinoceroses and many other mammals such as tigers, panthers, and numerous birds. Moreover, it is the single largest undisputed area in the Brahmaputra Valley floodplain and the fluctuations in the river results in spectacular riverine. Due to this, a vast area of wet alluvial tall grassland makes up huge semi-evergreen woodland.

The best time to visit and spot animals is from November to April. April being the best month as various flowers blooms making the sight more attractive. From November to February, the park arranges for shows where locals perform dance shows and tell stories about ancient Assam.

The park offers rides to the visitors on elephants but if someone wants to cover the entire park, jeep safaris can be pre-booked to avoid the last-minute rush. This way one can gaze at the endless sceneries in the area.

In the vicinity is Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary which can be covered in half a day’s time. Situated inside Kaziranga National Park, Hoollongapar is a special zone made to conserve the Hoolok Gibbon, a one-of-its-kind species of Apes found in India.

How to reach Kaziranga National Park?

By Air: This national park is located at remoted places in Assam. To reach there by flight one may get down at Rowriah Airport at Johrat. The Airport do not have many flight connection therefore one may also take a flight to Guwahati in Assam to reach there from various parts of the country.

By Train: Nearest Railway station is Helem about 30 kms, Johrat about 90 kms, Furkating about 75 kms and Guwahati about 200 kms to reach Kaziranga National Park. These railway station do not run many trains from other parts of India but the Guwahati railway station has trains running from Major metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata.

By Road: This region is best to visit by road adjoining the airports and railway station. It’s also a lifetime experience to visit these places covering various tourist attractions in Assam and other nearby states.

Best time to visit Kaziranga National Park

November to April is considered to be the best time to explore this region. It is located in Assam and it experience the highest rainfall during monsoons therefore it is an off season for any tourist to visit here.
