Jim Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park is named after a famous conservationist Jim Corbett and is well known for the finest tiger habitats in India. Lying beautifully at the foothills of the great Himalayas in Uttarakhand, Jim Corbett National park is one of the oldest in India and was set back in 1936.

Initially known as Hailey National Park, the primary objective was to save the Bengal Tigers. Extending over a tract of five twenty square kilometres, it is considered as the largest tourist attraction, attracting over 70,000 tourists every year. The park is open from mid-November to mid-June and one can book jeep safaris to spot all the rare animals.

When we talk about animals in the Jim Corbett National park, you will find a hedgehog, chital, gharial, elephant, pangolin, flying fox, nilgai, muntjac, wild boar, king cobra, tiger, common musk shrew, sambar and around six hundred birds. The cuckoo is famous for its iconic melody breaking through the silence during the morning safari.

Tourists can separately spend a day just bird-watching and keep another day for jeep safari and glaze through the Corbett museum. The museum talks about the over-all life of the national park and is made in the form of a heritage bungalow. The Corbett waterfall is also one of the dramatic natural attractions located at a height of 60 feet in this lush green forest.
