Umngot River marks the separation between Jaintia Hills or Ri Pnar and Hima Khyrim over which hangs a single span bridge which was built in 1932. Only one vehicle at a time can pass through this bridge. It is a picture-perfect place for travellers to spend an evening sipping hot coffee and admiring nature.

How to reach Dawki?

By Air: Guwahati is the nearest domestic airport which is located about 200kms from Dwaki. One may opt for helicopter service from Guwahati till Shillong.

By Train: The nearest railway station to reach this place is Shillong and has well connected trains running from Guwahati and other parts of East India.

By Road: Dwaki being situated in a remoted region of Meghalaya, one has to travel by road from Shillong which is about two and half hours’ drive. Taking a road route from Guwahati is a popular option for tourists who want to cover multiple destinations of East India.

Best time to visit Dawki

Although this region is blessed with moderate climate throughout the year, October to April is considered the best time to visit this place. To experience the crystal clear water of the river, month of November is most preferred time to visit. Monsoon is less suggested for travelling to this region due to heaviest rainfall.
