By Air: It has a domestic airport but there are not many flight connections. Its best to take a flight till nearest airport Chennai, which is about 148 km away.
By Train: Rail networks from Chennai, Kanyakumari, Tirupati, Bangalore, Villupuram, Howrah, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Mangalore are well connected with the Pondicherry Railway Station. The nearest major train station, approx. 39 km from Puducherry, is Villupuram Station.
By Road: Pondicherry has convenient connectivity by way of road from Chennai, Villupuram, Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, Bangalore, Trivandrum, Calicut, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Ernakolum.
During the months of October to March, Pondicherry is best visited because the usual temperatures range from 15° to 30° Celcius.
The summers (April-June) are quite dry and sometimes the temperature is 40 ° Celsius and is generally a low tourist season.
